The research laboratory team
Since August 2024, we have been combining our expertise as the OsteoCare Lab team to jointly carry out projects in the field of cancer and orthopedic research at the medical faculty.
We want to work together to advance research in the fields of tumor microenvironment, bone metastasis, osteoporosis, and bone and cartilage regeneration, and we look forward to inspiring young students and scientists to pursue these areas of research.
We are Prof. Dr. med. Bittersohl, Director and Chief Physician of the University Clinic for Orthopedics at Bielefeld Hospital and Head of the Orthopedics Working Group (AG), PDin Dr. rer. nat. Vera Grotheer, Head of the OsteoCare Research Laboratory, Bastian Altemeier, Project Coordinator for Research & Teaching at the University Clinic for Orthopedics. Marcel Hinkelammert supports the team as a biological technical assistant and Maxine Schöbel as a biological laboratory assistant. In addition, Mounir Elfilaly as Data & AI Manager, and Sarpane Nasiry and Judith Stritzker as study assistants support our work. As a team, we work closely together between Bielefeld Hospital and the OWL Medical Faculty. Our goal is to use our scientific findings to not only improve the treatment of tumor diseases and cartilage and bone pathologies in the future, but also to develop innovative therapy concepts for the benefit of patients.
